Footnotes

1 Writing of a letter to Waldheim is recorded in Schenker’s diary for July 10, 1932: “Jause auf der Terasse des Hotels, dann diktire ich den Brief an Waldheim genau nach Deutsch’ Anweisung; Beilage das korrigirte Vorwort u. Titelblatt für Amerika u. Europa.” (“Afternoon snack on the hotel terrace, then I dictate the letter to Waldheim exactly in accordance with Deutsch’s instructions: as inclosures, the corrected Foreword and title-page for America and Europe.”). — For Otto Erich Deutsch’s instructions, see OC 54/370, July 5, 1932.

2 A cryptic note: Schenker is sending a letter to Waldheim-Eberle enclosing corrected proofs of the title-page and Foreword, with instructions that Waldheim should forward the title-page to Universal Edition.
