Wegen des Geldes habe ich Euch noch vor meiner Abreise am Freitag 3 geschrieben. Soeben erfahre ich vom Dr Wachsberg telefonisch, dass er die Formalitäten betreibt, 4 u. bitte ich nochmals um ein wenig Geduld. 5 Hoffentlich ist es bei m. l. Heinrich schon besser, 6 ich wäre Dir sehr dankbar, wann Du mich mit einem Wort sagen wolltest, wie es ihm heute geht. Selbstverständlich werde ich Euch nur dann besuchen, bis der l. Heinrich es verlangt. Bitte um zwei Zeilen über sein Befinden. Needless to say, I will visit you only if dear Heinrich wishes it. Please send me word of his condition. Footnotes1 Receipt of this express lettercard is recorded in Heinrich’s diary for September 16, 1930: “Von Mozio (expreß Br.): bittet um Geduld!!!!” (“From Mozio (express letter): he asks for patience!!!!”). Heinrich does not record that the letter speaks directly to Jeanette. — Where Moriz has inserted emdashes, paragraph-breaks have been editorially introduced. 2 Writing of this non-surviving letter is recorded in Heinrich’s diary for September 12, 1930: “An Mozio (Br. diktirt): wünsche das Geld!” (“To Mozio (letter, dictated): I would like the money!”). 3 = OJ 14/5, [38], September 12, 1930. 4 “er … betreibt” (“he ... formalities”): underlined in crayon by Heinrich. 5 “ich ... Geduld” (“I ... patience”): underlined in crayon by Heinrich. 6 Heinrich had been sleeping badly, and suffering from “oppression.” This is perhaps why Heinrich dictated OJ 14/5, [38] to Jeanette and the letter went to Moriz in that form, presumably prompting Moriz to make his salutation direct to Jeanette. Nonetheless, Moriz addressed the recto to Heinrich, not Jeanette, and the valediction to them both. |
