Aus dem Programm hervorzuheben blos: „Nachtviolen“ u. „Memnon“; die Stücke für Männerchor „Nachtigall“ u. „Ständchen“ übten ihre gewohnte Wirkung, während die übrigen Gesänge, wie z. B. „Uraniens Flucht“ die ungleiche, immer aber unbekümmert naive Produktion Schuberts in allzu ungünstigem Sinne bloßstellten. Unter den Bildern ragte ein Jugendbildnis v. Schwind hervor. 2 *Nach dem Konzert mit Fr. D. zu Tisch. *Ungünstige Wirkung mehrerer zu wenig durchschlafener Nächte! *

Of the items on the program, only "Nachtviolen" and "Memnon" were noteworthy; the pieces for male chorus, Die "Nachtigall" and "Ständchen", had their usual effect, whereas the remaining songs, such as "Uraniens Flucht", betrayed Schubert's uneven but always cavalierly naïve production in an all too unfavorable sense. Among the images, a youthful portrait by Schwind stood out. 2 *After the concert, supper with Mrs. Deutsch. *Unfavorable effect of several nights during which I got too little sleep! *

Footnotes1 Deutsch's illustrated lecture "Schubert and his Friends" took place in the small auditorium of the Musikverein. It was followed by a concert with Jessy Köttrich, Alfred Julius Boruttau and Stephan Pollmann (singers), Margarete Kolbe (violinist), Josef Groër (piano soloist), Viktor Ebenstein and Karl Weigl (piano accompanists) and the Lyric Quartet of the Viennese Men's Choral Society. The proceeds went to Schubert's impoverished niece (Neue freie Presse, April 4, morning edition, p. 13): probably Anna Siegmund née Schubert (1858–1943), who had already received a donation of money in 1904 from the male choral society "Geselligkeit" in Marienthal.
