German historian, editor of historical journals, and member of the German Reichstag from 1871. He was strongly anti-British, colonialist, and anti-Semitic. Author of What we Demand from France (1870), History of Germany in the Nineteenth Century (1879), A Word about our Jews (1879-80), and Historical and Political Essays (Leipzig, 1896).
