Soeben 1 öffne ich bei Tisch das Couvert u. finde blos 330 für 360, wovon ich Ihnen sofort auch Mitteillung mache. Im Monat November fand ich im Couvert einen geringeren Betrag, aber Sie kamen auch später. Ist's Irrtum von Ihnen heute? 2 Oder? Vergessen Sie nicht, daß [? mit ] allen Feiertagen die Pauschalisirung dem Schüler nicht Vorteile zuwendet, wie Sie es leicht dem Kalendar nachrechnen können. [cued from lower margin: ]Z.B. Schenker, [Vienna] III, Reisnerstraße 38 [To: ]Mr. Hans Weisse, [Vienna] VI, Linke Wienzeile 36 [postmark:] || 1/1 VIENNA 40 | 8. 1. 19 -9 | * 4c * || {verso} My dear Hans, I have 1 just opened the envelope at lunch and find only 330 rather than 360 [Kronen], of which I am informing you immediately. In the month of November I found a smaller sum of money in the envelope, but you came later. Is this an error on your part today? 2 Or what? Do not forget that with all the holidays the lump-sum method of payment bestows not [?inconsiderable] advantages upon the pupil, as you can easily calculate from the calendar. Footnotes1 Writing of this postcard is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 2/12, p. 2030, January 8, 1919: "Weisse zahlt bloß 330 Kronen; schreibe vom Tisch weg eine Karte an ihn, worin ich ihn auf diesen Tatbestand aufmerksam mache." ("Weisse pays only 330 Kronen; I write him a postcard at lunch bringing this fact to his attention"). 2 Weisse's response is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 2/12, p. 2030, January 9, 1919: "Weisse trägt 30 Kronen nach u. stellt es als Irrtum hin." ("Weisse adds 30 Kronen and claims it was an error"). |
